SYNOPSIS
“The floor area of construction in Southeast Asia in the first quarter 2007 increased 60% on a year earlier.Total floor area leapt to 57 billion square meters from 36 billion squaremeters a year earlier. Meanwhile, the growth rate for Greater China (includingHong Kong and Macau) was 37% in comparison forthe same period. The total floor area of projects increased to 301 billionsquare meters, up from 220 billion square meters in the first quarter lastyear. The enormous figures and growth rate, together with today’s communicationtools and globalised competition, have presented altogether an unprecedentedenvironment for young design practices in Asia.To emerge, it requires certain unique approaches and attitudes different fromthe previous generations.â€?

In this Designer’s Forum, we will discover specificapproches and thoughts in relation to the current architecture development in Asia. Each Designer’s Forum will present 3-4 speakersfrom a range of designers, academia and multi-discipline collaborations. Avibrant dialgue and life interaction is expected to arise from the panel andaudiences.
