Archifest 07

ArchiFest is an Architectural Design Festival that celebrates the built environment and preludes the Singapore Architecture Biennale 2010. Held annually, it is a platform for all walks of life to discuss, debate and deliberate architectural issues. Participants will find themselves engaging in uninhibited dialogue, creative collaborations and a constant exchange of ideas.

Archifest aims to promote the importance of architecture and design. It is clear that architecture & urban design are playing increasingly important role on the global competition between cities and Singapore ArchiFest 07 aims to drive this message not only to professionals but also the public. The concept of a “Singapore Biennale” is to create a centralized exhibition promoting architecture & urban design excellence.

The festival is also an attempt in fostering a sense of community among professionals> It is understood that a city of excellence requires a creative community of architects, planners and associated professionals. The sense of community is needed to harness common goals and vision towards the making of an exciting Singapore. Singapore ArchiFest 07 will bring allied professionals together to share future directions.

In what is perhaps the most important objective for Archifest is to educate and engage the public and students in city planning & architecture. The creation of a city of excellence does not only depend on the professional bodies but also the public in general. Another key group of target audience is the future professionals – students from Institute of higher learning. The aim is to enthuse and motivate this future generation.

So come on down and bring a friend. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. Discover new ways of how you can affect architecture. Because architecture affects us all.

Singapore ArchiFest 07 is an initiative supported and co-funded under the Architecture and Urban Design Excellence (A.UDE) Promotion Programme by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). URA’s A.UDE Promotion Programme is set up to encourage and support private organisations and individuals who wish to carry out outreach activities in the areas of architecture and urban design.
