CITY EXHIBITION 2008: “MORE THAN ICONS
An exhibition showcasing the works of NUS architecture students (2007/08)
The NUS Architecture City Exhibition is an annual event organized by The Architecture Society of the School of Design and Environment, National University of Singapore, showcasing the architectural works of its students. This year, the exhibition takes on the theme, “More Than Icons, a concept that challenges Asia’s recent obsession with creating architectural icons.

The exhibition comprises of 4 sub-themes, each representing a different aspect of architecture that brings the focus back to its true purpose. The themes are “To Engage, “To Sustain, “To Craft and “To Feel and are presented through various visual mediums, from hand drawings and physical models to sophisticated computer-generated renderings, exhibited in an originally designed set. Beyond this, the exhibition also places emphasis on the design process – that the end product is only as important as its narrative and rationale behind it. One can also expect to view and experience architecture differently from the way it is usually presented to the public.
City Exhibition 2008: “More Than Icons will be held at Vivocity (South Court) from 1-3 August 2008, during the opening hours of the mall.
