Blogs are probably one of the fastest methods to furnish readers with news about architecture and design compared to architecture magazines that are usually weeks or even months behind. With much to choose from, FFW kicks off a series of blog reviews that we find FiveFootWorthy.

Here are 3 FiveFootWorthy Blogs to read as part of your lifelong architectural education process.

DAILY ARCHITECTURAL UPDATES

A Daily Dose of Architecture
http://archidose.blogspot.com/

This blog is like a daily TODAY paper for people taking public transport, where its main point is to quick update as well as interest us with the latest architectural related events/issues/trends/buildings. It updates us with daily picture blogs of buildings and occasion posts of short reviews of architectural related blogs and books. They do provide a link to their database image pool on flickr. Besides, there are “Half Dose” articles, which include commentaries of the writer with regards to the design processes of the featured buildings. A sub-component of the blog includes a comprehensive list of links to architecture related websites/blogs which are thoughtfully categorized into different sub-genres such as design+technology, forum, criticism and architects.

John Hill is an architect from New York and he has started this blog since April 2004, an extension of his first webpage (A Weekly Dose of Architecture).

ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL IN REAL-TIME

AALog.net
http://aalog.net/

This blog is a picture (and video) blog for The Architecture Association School of Architecture, one of the world’s most international schools of architecture. It is a common platform for various members of the school to update readers on the current happenings within the school, through regular postings on school events and processes. This is a very good reference with regard to the studio, jury and exhibition environment for students who intend to study at overseas architectural schools. Some might even find it inspiring and motivating to see the things being done in the AA, especially where they have been very well documented in this blog. The blog also provides links to AA related websites/blogs which include well-documented blogs of the some of the individual units of the school and focus in detail on the subjects they major in.

This blog is contributed by various members of the school since September 2005 and is currently managed by Valerie Bennett.

ARCHITECTURAL VIDEOS DATABASE

Architectural Videos
http://architecturalvideos.blogspot.com/

This blog can be considered one of the most useful databases for any architecture enthusiast. Video speaks much more than words and pictures. This is one especially applicable to architecture students who have limited time and attention span for things other than their school projects - this blog provides regular architecture related videos such as building concept and construction process videos of the latest buildings designed by famous architects like Zaha Hadid and Steven Holls. Links to google maps of building locations are included; while videos of 3D-Max and Vray tutorials can be found, very useful for students engaged in 3D renderings. Besides its main focus of architectural videos, the blog does also feature brief recommendations on architecture books, reviews and movies.

The blog appears to have started since April 2007 by Einstain, however no further detail of the author was provided.
