The FIVEFOOTWAY Report- 2008

A couple of weeks ago, we promised you the FIVEFOOTWAY Annual Report for 2008 where we will share with you what we have done and achieved in the year. We gave you a sneak peek into it and now, we are pleased to give you the full thing. Download it right here.

The report is structured as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Readership figures
  • Reader Habits
  • Content
  • Highlights
  • Feedback
  • The future of FIVEFOOTWAY

The last section in particular is key as we share with you our vision for FIVEFOOTWAY. As we attempt to chart a plan for long-term sustainability and also tune into a clearer direction in what we want to achieve, we share with you our thoughts in the report. We will be writing in greater detail on that section in particular in the coming weeks to share with you in greater detail what we are thinking about. Meanwhile, here are some extracts that we would like to share with you.

FIVEFOOTWAY was started in June 2007 because we saw the need for an architectural media brand that was relevant to a new generation of architects. Given the niche content and audience, it was clear right from the beginning that we were not out to create something that will be deliriously popular to the masses like a YouTube or a Facebook but rather, our success will be defined by the value of the content that we will deliver to the highly niche audience and also the new relationships that we will develop.

Media is the way society thinks about important issues and we believe that the quality of society’s ideas is directly proportionate to the quality of the media that it consumes. We believe that an army of bloggers will not and cannot replace our media professionals – the journalists, academics, editors, producers, sub-editors, photographers, videographers, etc. – but rather, the value of user-generated content is to complement the professionally produced ones.
