Meet the team
Adib Jalal
Adib is the co-founder and Director of the Department of Everything at 5ft Creatives. He is also a designer at FARMWORK where he is engaged in creating architectural solutions without selling his creative soul. Adib was formally educated in Architecture at the National University of Singapore and is currently being informally educated in life. He is interested in developing new ways of making and understanding architecture. Adib also likes to walk on the Five Foot Way.
JJ Yeo
JJ is the co-founder of 5ft Creatives and a legal alien in the United States. While toying with the idea of being the all-achieving, multi-tasking demi-god that’s been-there and done-that, he is currently divided between wild excitement and pensive apprehension at the prospect of yet another venture into architectural academia.
Apurva Bose
Apurva is an architect from India, pursuing architectural journalism. She writes for various architectural/interior journals and websites. She has been in the core team of India’s leading architectural publications namely ‘Architecture+ Design’ and ‘Indian, Architect and Builder’.
Bert de Muynck
Bert is an architect, writer and director of movingcities. Besides contributing to FiveFootWay, he is a prolific writer and his writing can be found in magazines such as MARK magazine. He lives and works in Beijing, China and travels around the globe to give lectures to keen ears.
Darryl Wee
Darryl is a translator, editor and writer currently based in Tokyo, contributing to a variety of art, design and architecture publications and projects, such as Tokyo Art Beat, Hitotoki, Neojaponisme and Singapore Architect. He graduated with a BA in French from Harvard University in 2006.
Kenn Goh
Kenn is cross-disciplinary designer whose primary interest lies in spatial & visual designs. He is currently based in London and works for Surface Architects, a distinctly creative and intellectually rigorous practice that has received much critical recognition and media coverage. He also exploits his design cravings in Design Rejuvenation, an individual freelance effort which he founded in 2005 with a collective vision of breeding new “volumes, platform and stir” in our everyday life.
Non Arkaraparasertkul
Non is a doctoral scholar at the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford in the UK and Visiting Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Design at MIT where he teaches and conducts research on modern architecture, housing/community design, and urbanism of East Asian regions with special focus on China. Trained in History, Theory, Criticism and Urban Design at MIT, Arkaraprasertkul is a Bangkok-based practising architect, urban designer and Adjunct Lecturer in Architecture and Urbanism at Chulalongkorn University. His interests concern issues of contemporary architecture and urbanism, specifically the effects of cultural construction and political economy on built form. Arkaraprasertkul was a Fulbright Scholar in Architectural Studies at MIT from 2005-07, during which time he was also named the recipient of the Rockefeller’s Grants, the Asian Cultural Council Research Fellowships, Starr Foundation Fellowships in Cultural Studies, and W.Danfort Compton Memorial Scholarships for Architecture.
